Welcome to the Boer Goat Corral  at S & A  Farms
on the "Black Rock barrens" in Western Indiana

South Pasture Group

Hi!  We're the Dahnkes and we've been in the livestock business for over 40 years.  We're members of the AMGA (American Meat Goat Association), IMGA (Illinois Meat Goat Association), ABGA (American Boer Goat Association), and lifetime members of the USBGA (U.S. Boer Goat Association).  We've been raising Boer goats for 9 years on our farm here in Indiana.  Before that we raised and exhibited registered Hampshire sheep for many years, and were known for the corrrect body conformation and consistency in our stock.  You've most likely seen Steve and Nate out and about in the showring at many of the midwest shows.  The breeding stock, show stock and meat goat wethers we sell do well everywhere.  One of the most successful bucks bred and raised by us is Pipestone.

You can see our stock at the following sales:

The All Star Spring Sale & Clinic, which we hold the 1st Sunday in April, is where we sell meat goat wethers and show does.   Over 100 people attended the 2008 clinic, where we discussed feed, management, showmanship and selection.   Thanks to the buyers at the 2008 All Star Spring Sale!  We sold 80 wethers with the top selling wether bringing $1,650.00.  There were several that sold in the range of $600 to $1300 and about a fourth of the wethers sold for $350 or less.

The Tri-State Boer Goat Genetics Spring Sale held in April at Greensburg, Indiana.  We offer both wethers and breeding stock at this sale.

The Sale of All Stars held
on Saturday of Labor Day weekend in Franklin, Indiana is our Fall production sale.  We are joined by several Boer Goat producers and offer breeding stock and show stock for sale, including many does who have been exposed to the buck best suited for producing young show does and meat goat wethers for the next show season.  We always have both percentage does and full blood does available for sale, and usually have a group of bucks available also.  The catalog for this sale is published on this site in August, and t
he 2007 sale was held on Saturday, September 1.

We also have breeding stock available for sale at our farm and you can find pictures of current offerings on the Goats for Sale Page.  We open our farm to visitors, who are welcome throughout the year, except when we are kidding.    We are usually available evenings and weekends.

East Pasture Group

Our Boer Goat Corrals are home to about 300 brood does and several full blood Boer bucks.  In our breeding program, we have focused on percentage does and full blood bucks, with careful selection for correct breed character, body conformation and style, and consistency in reproduction.  The pedigree is the final thing we look at and we use the pedigree to make the final decision.  We began expanding our full blood doe group in 2006, and currently have around 40 full blood does.

Our older foundation bucks include
K-204 Pipeline's twin brother, P-132 a Pipeline son out of a Dello doe - and a Ryals RDR Bias buck.  We have many brood does from these bloodlines.   These three bucks have sired many successful show stock for us as well as our buyers Sport our Ubora/Elbora bloodline outcross buck, was Grand Champion Buck at the 2005 NAILE, and 2005 KY State Fair as a yearling and at least division champion in every show he attended.  He was described as the "perfect Boer Buck" by 3 different judges.  Mo Sport, our Sport son was 4th in his class at Indiana and Kentucky, and third in Illinois.

One of our very successful wether sires is FSE Spirit, who also sires beautiful show stock.  He is currently making  champion wethers in Texas, 900 being one of his sons, and we have many of his percentage daughters in our wether program.   The buck we fell in love with as a baby, "Proto-Type" who is working for another breeder now, has sired a core group of does for us, and many show winners.

We  added "Bo-Howdy" bloodlines to our breeding program with the purchase of  "Bo-
Vision" a "Bo-Howdy" son in 2005, who was very successful in the show ring and is our top wether producer, as well as one of our top producers of show does.
We followed in 2006 with another
"Bo-Howdy" son, Bo Buck, who won his class at the 2006 Indiana Boer Goat Classic in Franklin.  Both of these bucks are working for us in our breeding program, as well as for some of our select customers.

Boilermaker, our October
2005 "Design 19" son from Downen's,
is well on his way towards ennoblement.  He was  Reserve Champion Junior Buck at the Indiana Boer Goat Classic in Franklin, Reserve Champion Buck at the Illinois State Fair, and Grand Champion Buck at the Kentucky State Fair, where the judge described him as best Boer buck he has seen.  Boilermaker was Grand Champion overall on the 2006 On Line Goat Show at boergoats.com, Reserve Champion Yearling Buck at the 2006 NAILE, and Grand Champion Overall Buck at both the Tri-State Boer Goat Shows in May, 2007.   Boilermaker's daughter, a pureblood, was Reserve Grand Champion Full Blood Doe at the IBGC Show in Veedersburg, Indiana, as well as being third in her class of 65 at the 2007 NAILE.

Our new breeding stock buck, Totally Ripped,  is from Lary Duncan - we purchased this particular buck because of all the bucks in this group, he looked most like his daddy.  We believe Totally Ripped is going to do a very good job for us.  We have kids on the ground - we like them!

And - our newest addition in the buck corrall - we just call him HUMMER - and his name says it all!
