2009 ALL STAR MEAT GOAT WETHER SALE
This was the best sale we have had in terms of number of buyers (we gave out 121 buyers numbers), quality of wethers, and sale average. Sixty goats were sold within an hour and a half. The high selling wether sold by Kedrick Miller for $2350 and stayed in Indiana. The next high selling wether from S&A Farms sold to Indiana for $1775.00, and this wether was Reserve Grand Champion at his County Fair and class winner at the 09 Indiana State Fair.. Twelve wethers sold for $1,000 or more, and another 18 sold for over $750.00 - many of these were Grand or Reserve Champions at their County Fairs and/or open jackpot shows. Four consignors had wethers sell for $1,000 or more. There were also several very competitive wethers that sold in the $250 to $400 range.
Goats sold to several states, including Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana, of course.
The 2009 All Star Clinic began at 11:00 AM on Sunday and was very well attended. Steve Dahnke presented information on management and feeding, Nate Dahnke presented a fitting demonstration, and Terry Burks talked about showmanship, how to evaluate body condition and carcass values in the meat goats.
